There is much to catch up on.
Facebook has become our quickest way to share our purchases and current work. Yet it lacks the real story behind the inventory that we have discovered, the tales that we wish to share or even the ups and downs of doing what we do. We plan to focus more time on our blog.
July sped by at an alarming rate. It felt like only yesterday that we were lighting the grill for our 4th of July BBQ and now we are greeting the month of August. July gifted us the most marvelous of estate sales. We discovered items spanning 4 generations. Timothy spent hours in the attic handing boxes, furniture and lamps down to his son who brought them to us to sort through. We had only 6 days to do everything; sort, set up, price, clean and organize. We did it though with the help of our families. Selena's father and her daughter were an important part of the team along with Tim and his son. It was the first time we had all worked together and the chemistry among us all was practically perfect. We had a few bumps as the shortage of time to do everything and a few moments of stress. We got through it all though with positive attitudes and a lot of hard work.
Over the course of the next couple of months we are going to share with you photos and tales from this estate sale. Today's post is about these sweet old tags from the original Santa Rosa Electric which was in Santa Rosa between the 1940's through to the 1960's. The owner of the store sold Packard-Bell PhonOcords and had a display of them. We also uncovered a box of blank PhonOcords. What is a PhonOcord? A device that let you record your own records. A really cool invention at the time.
The warmest part of running an estate sale is being able to peek into the lives of previous owner's and family members. You get to piece their family puzzle together and in a way honor them. Customers spoke candidly to us at their sadness about the fact that we were selling items that belonged to the family. I can understand that emotion but I tried to let them see the happiness that the new owner felt when purchasing these items from the past. As we all know, you can't take it with you. To give another life to something that is 60 years old is pretty amazing too. It also keeps things out of the landfill and is one of the most Eco friendly things one can do; buy Second Hand.

Next post we'll share some of the furniture display pieces that came out of the Santa Rosa Electric Store on 4th Street in the 1940's. They are amazing and a wonderful part of Sonoma County History.
Do any of you remember this store or have family members that used to shop there?
